Laser hair removal currently has FDA approved for permanent hair reduction. This method of hair removal involves the use of invisible light energy which is gently pulsed on the skin. The energy is absorbed by the pigmented hair cells and reacts by creating enough heat to destroy these cells. This process is dependant upon the hair having pigment which is light brown or darker. Clients with red, blonde or white hairs will need to receive electrolysis to permanently treat these hairs.

The laser equipment utilized is the Cynosure Apogee Elite, which has actually two lasers within one unit. The Elite offers the ability to use either the Alexandrite 755nm or Nd:YAG 1064nm wavelengths, depending upon the client’s skin type. The amount of treatments required varies depending upon the area of treatment, the amount of hair, the cause of the excess hair growth, as well as other factors which each individual. Popular areas of treatment are bikini, underarms, legs, back, neck, chest, face, as well has anywhere there is unwanted hair that can safely be treated.
