Laser Hair Removal - How it works and What to expect:
The hair removal laser targets melanin. The best candidates for laser hair removal are individuals with light skin and dark hair. Dark hair contains melanin and has a plethora of melanin surrounding the dermal papilla, or hair root. The melanin granules absorb the laser energy, which in turn produces a thermal effect. This heating action is what damages the hair follicle.

The projected number of treatments needed is 3-7, with the average being 3-4. Treatments are delivered anywhere from 6 weeks to 4 months apart with the average being 2-3 months. After your treated hair has fallen out (10-20 days), you will be hair free for some time. Suddenly you will notice a new "crop" of hair emerging. These hairs were dormant or not in an active stage of growing when you had your laser treatment. You will then know it is time for your next treatment.

Botox is a form of purified Botulinum toxin. It has been used therapeutically for more than 17 years to treat a variety of medical conditions. In 2002, the same formulation - under the label Botox Cosmetic - was approved by the FDA for treatment of moderate to severe frown lines between the brows. The lines that appear between your brows actually result from muscle movement and the passage of time. When powerful muscles between the brows contract, they draw the brows together, causing the skin to fold or furrow. As skin becomes less elastic with age, those folds or furrows result in stubborn lines. Botox is a drug that blocks nerve transmission and relaxes the underlying muscles. The dose of the toxin is extremely dilute when compared to the amount associated with harmful or life threatening effects. These injections are used to improve the spasm of facial muscles in the forehead, frown lines, crow's feet, as well as other areas on the face and neck.

The safety record with Botox is extremely high. Side effects are rare. The results of treatment with Botox are most often not seen for 3-5 days and maximize 2 weeks after therapy. Most commonly, the results of the treatment last 4 months with a gradual return to pre-treatment appearance. Minor bruising at the injection site can occur. These usually fade in a few days and can be covered with makeup.

Typical Treatments: A piece of ice is used to chill the skin just before injection and provides excellent comfort. A tiny needle puts the medicine in the muscle. Bruising is possible but is usually avoided. Starting doses in the glabella (between eyes/low brow) is 20 - 24 units. Forehead - 8 units. Eyes - 12 units. Botox around the eyes doesn't last quite as long as other areas. Any or all areas may be treated as desired by the client.

Microdermabrasion was first used in Europe, adopted in the US in the late 1990's. It is used to treat fine wrinkles, sun damaged skin, and to remove or lessen scars and dark spots on the skin. Microdermabrasion can also be used to treat acne, but should be repeated periodically for optimum results.
During your visit to The Vein + Laser Center your treatment will begin with a facial wash using Neova Herbal Wash. Premium Microdermabrasion Aluminum Oxide Crystals are used during the treatment to gently blast away clogged pores and damaged skin, your entire face and neck will be treated. Your skin will feel rejuvenated and smooth. After the treatment your face will be rinsed with warm cloths and then any remaining blemishes will be extracted. Your face will be rinsed again and additional Neova products will be used to moisturize and calm your skin.
