Medical lasers emit a specific wavelength of light that passes through the skin and is absorbed by pigment. In Laser hair removal, light waves are absorbed by the hair follicle more than by surrounding tissue. The hair follicle is eventually damaged leading to the cessation of hair growth. Because hair follicles grow in cycles one treatment can only affect the hairs that are growing at the time of treatment. An initial series followed by a maintenance program can lead to permanent reduction of hair of any area of the body.
